Responsibility is in our fabric
Nobody’s Child’s a free thinking, planet conscious, next-generation brand that’s leading the way for responsible and affordable fashion. Passionate about fabrics, we’ve spent the last eight years running away from materialism. From our London studio to our Carnaby Street store, we’re on a mission to bring responsible fashion to women everywhere without costing the Earth.
Our goal is to always use materials that are better for the planet. Because here’s the thing: fabric choice can account for up to 80% of a product’s social and environmental footprint. We class a responsible fabric as one that has a certified composition of at least 50% lower impact, organic or recycled fibres.
This season our spring/summer collection is made from 95% responsible fabrics. Our ambition is to get to 100%. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved but there’s more that needs to be done. Our next focus is ensuring everything we create becomes truly circular, from design and repair to recycling services.
Nobody’s perfect. This is just the start…
The future:
Our goal is to transform our business so it’s completely circular, giving back what we take away. We’ve chosen three goals to work hard on, bringing absolute focus to our strategy. We plan to review these goals at the end of each year and provide updates on our progress. Our plans are underpinned by the Sustainable Development Goals which were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. Here at Nobody’s Child we align our activities, goals and reporting to these SDGs.
1. Introduce circular design into every single style we create
We’ll train our design and buying teams on the concept of circularity. In fact, we’ve already started. We’ll also introduce specific training for our designers to ensure circular principles are incorporated into our clothes.
2. Make all our collections from 100% responsible fabrics
Responsible fabric alternatives will be continually assessed for all product types and integrated into our material mix regularly. We’ll continue to always choose the most responsible version of all key fabrics and stay up to date on the latest fabric innovations in the industry.
3. Be a carbon positive business
We’ll update our carbon footprint for 2021 before offsetting our entire emissions (Scope 1,2 & 3) for that year. We’ll then collaborate with experts to identify key areas in which we can reduce absolute emissions and set reduction targets in each area based on Science Based Targets (SBTi).
