Students! Take Note of this Season’s Most Wearable Styles…
It’s been a looong month for nine-to-fivers thanks to the early Christmas pay-day. Yes, we lapped it up back in December, but five weeks on and you’ve probably had to cut your Deliveroo order down to just twice a week. Perhaps you’ve even resorted to Boots meal deals for lunch instead of your usual Pret-a-Manger tofu salad… Well, if that’s you, just spare a thought for poor ol’ Jane, who’s been dining on cornflake and tuna toasties for the last month, in stomach-growling anticipation for her next student loan drop!
Today’s for you, Jane. We’re sharing the ‘it-items’ that offer the most style-mileage for your money. So whether it’s early-morning lectures, a Sunday study-sesh round your mates, or late-night drinks down the SU, these spring/summer pieces have EVERY occasion ticked.
1. The Ruffle Shirt
Ruffles couldn’t be more now, and this pastel-pink Frill Front Shirt will guarantee you’re ahead of the pack. In a crisp-cotton fabric, pair with faded denim and trainers for a fresh look come that 9am lecture… when you’re feeling anything but. And when it’s time to close the books? Tuck it into a high-waisted mini skirt and throw leather over-top.
2. The PU Mini Skirt
The item you can wear 101 ways… and then some, there’s no style more staple than the PU mini skirt. Co-ord with boots and a graphic tee for a retro-rock vibe, perfect for that uber-cool underground gig your mate’s being dying to go to. While a floral mesh bodysuit and choker necklace will totally switch it up in time for that nineties rave night… you’d far sooner be at.
3. The Culotte Jumpsuit
Offering an all-in-one style solution, the culotte jumpsuit’s a no-brainer come those mornings when the alarm clock decides not to go off (the rascal!). Simply slip on your cons and a denim jacket for a deceptively easy trend-led look. And if you’re not a dress kinda’ girl? It doubles up for a retro-tastic take on partywear – just add heels and hoop earrings. Altogether now… Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan!

4. The Slip Dress
Knowing what we now know about the slip dress – i.e. it’s just about the most versatile style that’s ever existed – we should never have let it fall off the radar back in the late nineties. That said, it’s finally back and going absolutely nowhere anytime soon. Floral’s key this season, but for a more off-duty vibe, throw an oversized slogan sweat on-top. This will tone down the pattern, not to mention provide that essential bit of warmth while winter clings on. As for that super-trendy Art Expo on the horizon? Simply ditch the sweat in favour of a ruffle shirt underneath!
5. The Frill Yoke Tee
Admittedly, the frill yoke tee is more of a seasonal piece, but as it-items go this provides the perfect purse-friendly entry-point. Besides, the wear-with-everything black means it will literally go with your entire wardrobe, including said slip dress, jumpsuit and PU miniskirt. On second thoughts, you might want to invest in a couple…
