Say Hello to our Fave-Ever Celebrity Mum & Daughters!
Yeah, so it was Mother’s Day on Sunday. Totally forgot? Better get on over to our just-in tassel saddle bag PRONTO. In brown faux-leather with embroidery detail, it’s your mum in a nutshell, believe us. All ordered? Cool, so let’s get back to the matter at hand; our fave-ever celebrity mum and daughters.
As a lame denim brand might say (and no doubt too many have), it’s all in the genes.
Lily-Rose Depp and Vanessa Paradis
When your mum’s a French popstar turned Chanel cover-girl, and your dad’s just about one of the most famous leading actors out there (Johnny Depp, for any cave-dwelling readers!), Lily-Rose was always destined for big things. At seventeen, she’s already followed in her mum’s Karl Lagerfeld-designed footsteps, as muse to the ponytailed-visionary. While more recently, shot alongside Paradis as the feature stars of cultural journal, Our City of Angels, the proceeds of which were donated to Planned Parenthood. Needless to say, they both ooze that effortless Parisian-cool.
Willow Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith
Like mother, like daughter, so they say and it certainly runs true in the Smith family. At the age of sixteen, Willow’s already conquered the same three art forms as mum; singing, acting and dancing, but is also a proud and outspoken feminist, a key style-icon, and a self-proclaimed science geek. Not only is she learning to produce music from mathematical equations (I know, right?), but named her most recent album ARDIPITHECUS, after the bones of a near-human ancestor… as you do.
But while Pinkett-Smiths’s no doubt been a key inspiration, Willow’s ridiculous success might also have something to do with her fresh-prince of a dad repeatedly telling his kids; “Mommy and daddy are rich. Y’all are broke.”
Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford
It must take a helluva lot to make a world-famous supermodel feel self-conscious. Especially a supermodel who’s graced just about every fash-rag on the planet… not to mention single-handedly propelled Pepsi to newfound heights with one super bowl ad. But apparently a daughter will do just that. As Cindy recently claimed “I look at my daughter and I’m like, ‘You have my old skin and I want it back! You have my old legs, I want them back! You have my old hair, I want it back!”
But it seems her mother’s goddess-like looks weren’t all Kaia inherited, but her bashfulness, too. Kaia’s since said in response to mum, “the worst part is how beautiful she is. I don’t even want to be in a photo next to her because she’s incredible. She doesn’t seem to age, which is not fair.” Doesn’t sound like the two of them will be doing a dual-shoot anytime soon then…
