Blogger Shoot: Brighton Beach with Betsy-Blue
What with the recent warmer weather, we’ve been looking for pretty much any excuse to get out of the London office and head directly – do not pass go – to the beach! Luckily, the opportunity was literally lurking around the corner, as the star of this month’s fashion blogger shoot – Betsy-Blue – just so happened to live a few minutes outside of sunny Brighton…convenient, hey?
You might recognise Betsy from a certain ITV reality series. X Factor ringing any bells? She was part of a four piece band called Only The Young, who got through to the live shows in 2014. Since disbanding in 2015, Betsy is now embarking on a solo mission as an R&B artist, in addition to having successfully made the transition to full-time fashion blogger. She parades a beautifully unique style – somewhere in-between boho-chic and nineties babe – over on her blog ‘It’s Thursday Tho,’ and has in fact recently become the very first fashion blogger to develop her own app, which you can check out here.
As with all our blogger shoots, the whole purpose behind them is that the blogger in question styles absolutely everything, from hair and makeup, to location, as this means we can get a real feel for their individuality. Betsy channelled an amazingly eclectic style on the day, having picked four looks from our SS16 collection.
Betsy-Blue – Look 1
For her first look, we took to Brighton’s pebble beach, for which she wore our red and white striped bodysuit (very apt in a ‘Punch and Judy’ sort of way), with a pair of mom jeans and a gold-sequined vintage jacket. The bold colours absolutely popped against the steely grey sea, while the metallic material dazzled under the morning sun.
Red and Cream Stripe Bodysuit – £14
Betsy-Blue – Look 2
For her second look, we popped over to the beautiful Brighton Banstand, and were blessed by the fact that it was absolutely empty. Betsy channelled this season’s leisure-luxe trend, in the form of Black Culottes, a Grey Knot Crop Top, and our Black Bomber Jacket. While trainers would have worked perfectly, she added a splash of originality in the form of some amazing white platform boots.
Black Culottes – £20
Betsy-Blue – Look 3
Next up was the city’s Ferris Wheel. Betsy opted for this season’s must-have piece – the pleated midi skirt – in the baby blue colouring. She paired it with a white scoop neck tee and trainers, and though once upon a time this would have conjured up images of Lily Allen circa 2005 (and not in a good way!), the trainers and skirt combo is totally on trend this season, seamlessly blurring chic Parisian with London urbanite…as confirmed in our recent 3 ways to wear it style edit.
Blue Pleated Midi Skirt – £30
Betsy-Blue – Look 4
For her fourth and final look, we took to the Brighton Pavilion. To complement the building’s exotic architecture, Betsy accessorised our pastel pink Bardot Top with an Asian inspired silver-coin necklace. Ripped jeans provided a modern twist, while a pair of fawn coloured cowboy boots once again served to show off the more original side to Betsy’s style.
Pink Stripe Bardot Top – £16
