Interview: 5 mins with Storm Model, Maddy Elmer!
The lovely Maddy Elmer, who you might recognise from our recent instagram posts, is represented by one of the most prestigious fashion modelling agencies in the world – Storm. To put that into context, Jordan Dunn, Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne have each, at one time or another, been on their books, not to mention the likes of Lily Cole, Alexa Chung and Cindy Crawford!
We were lucky enough to work with Maddy on our recent festival fashion shoot, to promote the capsule clothing collection for our new Topshop concession. She looked absolutely amazing in the sun loving styles, including aztec print jumpsuits, floral summer dresses and statement slogan tees. And although Maddy has only been modelling for less than two years, it’s no wonder she’s already worked with the likes of Topshop, Osman, ASOS and House Of Hackney, as she was an absolute star! And so when it came to interviewing a fashion model for our blog, she was one of the first to come to mind…
Q&A with Maddy Elmer
NC – What one tip would you give someone looking to get into fashion modelling?
Maddy – Don’t compare yourself to others.
NC – What would you say is the best thing about a modelling career?
Maddy – I’m so lucky to not only travel to incredible places, but also experience living there, which means I’m able to observe so much culture that I just wouldn’t if I was a tourist.
NC – How do you keep a good complexion?
Maddy – It’s so important for me to wear moisturiser, especially living in London where the air can affect your skin. I use a brand called Embryolisse. I also wash my face twice daily with a natural facial wash which doesn’t dry my skin.
NC – Who’s your biggest modelling inspiration: past or present?
Maddy – I currently live in a model flat with a bunch of girls who all inspire me to work hard and be positive.
NC – What’s the secret for getting the perfect selfie?
Maddy – Find a good light which doesn’t cast shadows on your face.
NC – How did you get into modelling?
Maddy – I was scouted by fashion modelling agency, Storm, whilst dancing at Latitude Festival in Suffolk.
NC – How do you keep your energy up during a full day of shooting?
Maddy – I always make sure I have a good breakfast to set me up for the day, and then take snacks to keep up my energy levels… Bananas are my favourite!
NC – Favourite app to distract yourself whilst waiting around on set?
Maddy – Haha, I read inspirational instagram pages like @seekthetruth, and also the news.
NC – Best music to shoot to?
Maddy – Something that makes you want to party, and everyone can enjoy. Hip hop gets everyone in the mood.
NC – And lastly, your favourite Nobody’s Child piece?
Maddy – I love the Ombre Shaggy Fur Free Fur Jacket which I kindly got given on set!
