Up your Fashion Game with these 5 Festival Style Tips

Up your Fashion Game with these 5 Festival Style Tips

Festival season’s rearing its ugly kohl-smeared head, with the Radio 1 Big Weekend kicking things off this Saturday, closely followed by Download early next month and Glastonbury soon after. And while some people go for the music, others for the atmosphere, for us, it’s all about that festival wardrobe.

It’s the one time of year when pretty much anything goes; flowers in your hair, tribal war paint on your face, mud halfway up your legs, you name it. That said, there are definitely some essential style tips to ensure you nail that dry-shampooed, wet-wipe-washed, clothes-aired-on-the-tent-pole vibe, such as Festival Fashion Queens; Vanessa Hudgens, Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid…

Festival Style Tip 1. Accessibility

Let’s face it, none of us want to spend a second longer in those portaloos than we absolutely need to, let alone touch anything. So make sure your outfits are accessible…if you get our drift.

Jumpsuits are a big no no. As are skinny jeans. Instead, go for elasticated numbers, such as our printed shorts, or think midi day dresses that are easy to pull up. Our Floral Print Maxi Dress is one of our personal festival fashion faves!

Festival Style Tip 2. Up your layering game

When it comes to Glastonbury, all bets are off. There’s pretty much equal chance of a heatwave, as there is a snowstorm, monsoon, hurricane or even a tornado. So your festi wardrobe needs to be prepared! Think layers that you can easily slip on or off depending on if you’re suddenly too hot or too cold.

Start with a crop top, slip a crochet waistcoat over it (extra festival style points for the folky fringe hemline), and chuck one of our lightweight summer bomber jackets over the top. Layer slayer.

Festival Style Tip 3. Go Strapless

Assuming you’re not having to tread water in order to watch your favourite band, festivals can be the perfect time to achieve that pre-summer glow. So to avoid those two dreaded white lines on your shoulders, opt for strapless numbers such as this season’s mega popular bardot top, available in tropical print, aztec pattern and summer stripe options!

Festival Style Tip 4. Quick drying tops

It’s going to rain. You may as well accept that now. So avoid denim like the plague, as it holds onto water like those early frontrowers hold onto that bar. You know the ones.

Stick to lightweight materials that will dry quickly, such as a bodysuit. Not only absolutely huge right now, these figure flattering tops are insanely comfortable and look great with shorts. Our animal print style is particularly fierce…

Festival Style Tip 5. Bright Colourful Pieces

Let’s face it. Despite the fact you’re actually going to the festival – IN PERSON – you’re definitely going to record it at home, too. Just in case you get that second of fame on screen.

Make it easy to spot yourself among the crowd with bright coloured clothes, such as our Miami Beach Club Tee, and if you can, get on someone’s shoulders (stranger or not) with a ‘marry me’ sign. Foolproof plan.
